Getting access to IT
Before you can use the university's IT facilities you will need to know your unique username and password. You should also ensure that you haveread and understood the Regulations for Using IT Facilities (available online or from the library).
Your username
You have a unique username with which you can access IT facilities. Your username consists of the first 7 digits on your ID card preceded by a "K" (for example K0612345).
Your password
Your password was sent to you before enrolment. You may only use this 6 times before it expires. You will need to change this password. Choose a new one and change it by logging onto a university computer or by going to http://www.kingston.ac.uk/support
If you have lost or forgotten your password you can you can also reset it yourself at the website shown above by clicking on the "Forgotten Password?" link, or get a new one from any of the university's IT support desks or LRC help desks on production of
your University ID card.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you choose a suitable password and keep it secret. Passwords must be at least 7 characters long and must not have been used by you before. We strongly recommend you choose a mixture of letters and numbers for extra security (for example "hpØtt3r"). Never let anyone else know your password. This username and password combination will enable you to log on to our open access computers, and to KU web-based services from external computers. These services include
